The law firm of Barsumian Armiger Injury Lawyers provides free consultations to and represents residents of Terre Haute, Vigo County, Indiana who have been injured through no fault of their own. Our top-rated Terre Haute injury attorneys have been recognized by Indiana Super Lawyers in the areas of personal injury and medical malpractice law. With over thirty years of combined experience, they have experience in a wide range of injury and wrongful death cases arising out of car and truck crashes, construction site falls and equipment malfunction, slip or trip and fall incidents at stores, unsecured falling objects, medication and surgical errors, and product defects.
As the county seat of Vigo County, Terre Haute hosts the Vigo County Courthouse, which also services injury, medical malpractice, and wrongful death lawsuits filed by attorneys on behalf of residents of Allendale, Fontanet, Lewis, New Goshen, Pimento, Prairie Creek, Prairieton, Riley, Sant Mary of the Woods, Seelyville, Shephardsville, and West Terre Haute. With a population approaching 110,000, Terre Haute has several major highways that intersect the city. Many car and truck accidents occur on heavily-traveled Interstate 70, which runs east and west on its way from Indianapolis to St. Louis. US Highway 41 is also heavily traveled and sees its share of car and truck crashes as it funnels traffic north to Chicago or south to Vincennes and Evansville.
The most recent annual traffic study statistics show that Vigo County saw nearly 3400 motor vehicle collisions with ten fatal vehicle crashes. Terre Haute and West Terre Haute combined for nearly 2500 of those car and truck crashes.
Terre Haute is also home to several CSX Transportation railroad lines. Unfortunately, car or truck and train collisions have been known to occur in Vigo County, with a cursory search for Vigo County train collisions yielding several recent crashes, often with fatalities. Some such cases may result in wrongful death lawsuits being brought.
Terre Haute is home to two major hospitals, Terre Haute Regional Hospital and Union Hospital. According to Indiana’s Medical Error Report, in 2018, Terre Haute Regional Hospital had one reportable event, which was Stage 3 or 4 pressure ulcers acquired after admission. In that same Report, Union Hospital reported one incident involving the retention of a foreign object in a patient after surgery. Neither hospital reported any errors involving surgery on the wrong body part or wrong patient or the wrong surgical procedure performed on a patient. There also were no reports of intra-operative or post-operative death in a normal, healthy patient. No death or serious disabilities were reported involving medication errors. Although medical malpractice lawsuits are complex and difficult cases, when medical errors do arise, our Terre Haute medical malpractice attorneys provide a free consultation to help you determine whether there is a case worth pursuing.
